This area is best explored with your own mode of transport; motorbike or car. Glencoe is a remote location in western Scotland but that doesn’t mean that you have to travel for days in order to reach it. From any of the main airports in the country (Glasgow, Edinburgh) it will take you about 2-3 hours to reach Glencoe. The roads are well maintained and driving through some of Scotland’s most beautiful National Parks is already a highlight. Make sure you dress appropriately. Scotland is located in the north of Europe and can be cold, wet and windy, especially during the winter months (November through to March). Proper footwear is a must! Surfaces can be slippery at times. If you want to avoid the crowds, shoot your desired spot early in the morning or later in the evening. People tend to speak negatively about the weather in Scotland but from my own is experience I can tell that it is really not too bad! Be prepared for midges in the summer months – insect repellent and even head nets are advisable.
