After earning a university degree in Languages and Literature, Milan-born Marina Spironetti trained as a journalist in Italy. She studied photojournalism at the London College of Communication. She launched her photographic career in 2004. Originally working as a UK correspondent for the Italian picture agency Eidon Press, she now freelances for a variety of international magazines/newspapers. Her most recent work and writing has appeared, among others, on BBC Travel, TimeOut, Corriere della Sera, and Internazionale. Marina has travelled extensively worldwide. She lived in London, Paris, Buenos Aires and Ouagadougou, from where she covered the 2014 revolution and the 2016 terrorist attacks for international media such as CNN and RAI news. She is currently Milan-based. In 2016 she won the Smart Shot category of Travel Photographer of the Year.
